In Teaching and Learning (PBM), face to face is the main learning process conducted in Geological Engineering courses UNDIP. In this process, students are given course materials and lecturers function here provides an overview of existing courses. Student activity is expected both indoor and outdoor materials such as looking for material from the text book or from other sources such as the Internet. In addition, learning in the classroom are also using the ISS method IT (Interactice Soft Skill-based Information Technology). By using this method students are encouraged to collect and present the material in front of his friends. This fosters the ability to interact with others and self-confidence of students.

Another method is carried out are:

- Apply the material in lectures in the lab so that students are more familiar

- Conduct field visits whether in relation to geological phenomena as well as to institutions or companies related to earth science.

- Work practice or internship students in institutions, cv or company

- Application geology directly in the field such as geology mapping

- Consultation with the student teachers who are preparing reports / assignments, thesis, work practice or guidance counseling

- Interaction with the student teacher via email or HP for the time and effort efiktifitas

PBM monitored by using a list of faculty and student attendance, a list of counseling / consulting theses, practical work, seminars, etc. to guarantee the quality of education.

Students are also encouraged to be active in the faculty / university like running a race MAWAPRES (Student Achievement), sending papers to the annual scientific meeting such as IAGI (Association of Indonesian geologists), IPA (International Petroleoum Association), Hagi (Association of Indonesian Geophysics expert) and so on .

PG or Geological mapping is carried out activities to hone student skills in applying geological knowledge gained in the classroom by comparing the conditions in the field. This activity is intended for students having the ability to make observations, data collection and analysis of geological conditions in the field and presenting it in the form of maps and written reports.

Geological mapping is divided into 2 parts, namely the Bayat Geological Mapping and Geological Mapping Mandiri. Geological mapping in Bayat intended to train the basics of geological mapping, while the Independent Geological mapping conducted to train students to apply the basics of geological mapping in accordance with the conditions of research areas. Geological mapping locations are in the area Bayat Bayat Klaten in Central Java and training in the natural laboratory of Engineering Geology UGM. Meanwhile, Independent Geological Mapping every year in the spread to many different locations. Geological mapping was carried out by Student level III of Engineering Geology Undip Prodi.

Independent Geological mapping results were presented in front of students and lecturers.

Seminar

Karya seminar merupakan kegiatan kajian pustaka yang berupa tinjauan tentang teori maupun hasil penelitian terdahulu yang berkaitan dengan disiplin ilmu geologi dari berbagai sumber seperti text book, jurnal, majalah, internet dan sebagainya. Materi tersebut disusun menjadi karya ilmiah seminar dengan bimbingan dosen pembimbing. Seminar ini bertujuan untuk melatih mahasiswa bagaimana menulis suatu karya tulisan yang memperhatikan sistem penulisan karya ilmiah seperti penyaduran teori harus menyertakan penulis dan tahunnya. Dari hasil seminar ini dapat dilanjutkan untuk tema skripsi. Seperti hasil Pemetaan Geologi, hasil penyusunan seminar dipresentasikan di depan mahasiswa dan dosen pembimbing.
